　　英語成語(idiom)是英語的核心與精華。其內(nèi)容豐富，寓意深刻，具有濃厚的感情色彩。如果能在文章、談話或?qū)ν饨煌校‘?dāng)?shù)丶右赃\(yùn)用，會(huì)大大增加語言的表達(dá)能力，收到良好的效果。英語諺語是英語語言的精華，是英國(guó)藝術(shù)寶庫的瑰麗明珠。英語諺語的句式特點(diǎn)是句式簡(jiǎn)單，語言精煉，富于形象比喻，充滿濃郁的民族色彩。學(xué)習(xí)和研究英語諺語有助于啟迪思想，開拓視野，了解英國(guó)的歷史文化、風(fēng)土人情，以及英國(guó)人民的人生哲理，同時(shí)還可以學(xué)到生動(dòng)活潑的大眾語言。

　　本文通過比較英漢成語及諺語這兩種語言的相似及不同之處，詳細(xì)的介紹英語成語及諺語。第一部分主要從內(nèi)容和形式兩方面談?wù)動(dòng)⒄Z成語及諺語的基本特色;第二部分談及英語成語及諺語的一般翻譯方法和翻譯時(shí)應(yīng)該注意的一些問題。
