　　Dear John,

　　Thank you for your kind letter. You told me that you and most of you classmates went out for a three-day trip. I really think it fun. Now let me tell you something about a speech contest, which I have taken part in.

　　The contest was held at the playground last Saturday morning, 7:00a.m. The panel is made up of 5 English teachers from our school, all of whom were experienced. Moreover, a total number of 20 competitors came from we Grade 2. It was made a rule that the top 3 competitors would be awarded. It is a great competition and all the participants perform well. I was so lucky that I won the first place.

　　先是五年級比賽，之后依次往下。輪到我了。站到臺上的時候，我的.雙腿有些發(fā)抖，翻開書讀時，第一句讀錯了，我趕緊改進(jìn)。為了不讓自己再讀錯，我讓自己的心冷靜下來。雙腿也不再抖得那么厲害了。我講的故事是《愛唱歌的鳥，內(nèi)容是有一只愛唱歌的鳥，國王把它關(guān)進(jìn)籠子里，給它美味的食物，可它就是不唱。最后國王把它放走了，她又像以前那樣唱歌了�，F(xiàn)在所有人都很高興。講完了，我走下臺，回到自己的座位上。有一個女孩跟我的故事一樣，她很有感情把它背誦了出來，還做著動作。我是讀的，有一點感情，沒有做動作。我心想，下次講故事要背下來，要有感情和動作。

　　來到音樂廳，我們先坐好看其他班級表演，大家的.服裝都很漂亮整齊。我們只看了五個節(jié)目，大家的節(jié)目都很精彩，二年級三班的同學(xué)表演了《爸爸去哪兒》我覺得表演的很棒，是我比較喜歡的一個節(jié)目。

　　我真想再看幾個節(jié)目。不過就要到我們表演了，我們要去準(zhǔn)備了。我們表演的是《Twinkle Twinkle Little Star》，我們表演的也很精彩，女孩子的衣服閃閃的，男同學(xué)的是夏季禮服看起來像個小紳士。前面六個女同學(xué)他們表演的動作最難了，我們男同學(xué)的動作比較簡單，就在那里一站一坐的，最后拍手。我們沒有看到剩下的節(jié)目，表演完我們就回到教室吃冰激凌了，吃完冰激凌我們還去合了影。

　　如果下次還有這種大型節(jié)目，我們要更認(rèn)真表現(xiàn)更好，因為那時我們又長大了一些，我希望下次男同學(xué)也有動作。

　　The game was scheduled to start at start at eight o’clock on Friday night. Long before that, people began to arrive at the gymnasium. By seven-thirty the seats were almost filled.

　　The school band was there; they wore yellow and black uniforms. They started to play at about a quarter to eight. Everybody stood up, and the people sang. The game was about to start.

　　Two teams ran out to the floor. The referee blew his whistle, and the game started. A basketball game is divided into two halves, and each half is divided into two quarters. There is a rest period between the halves.

　　During the first five minutes of the second half, the score was tied. From then on, the game was very exciting. First one team made a basket, then the other.

　　The people cheered, and everybody was wondering which team was going to win. The ball hit the rim of the basket and seemed to hang there for a moment, and then it fell through the basket. The whistle blew and the game was over. Home team won, 70 to 68.
