The Chinese government recently plans to change the one-child policy into two-child policy, meaning that every family in China is allowed to have two children. Now my parents have made a decision to give birth to a second child, which worries me a great deal. Tough it is good to have a brother or sister to grow up with, I have to share everything with him or her. Most importantly, what if the love from my parents is totally switched to the new child? Nowadays, most students born between 1978 and 1990 are the only child of their families. I am one of them. Personally speaking, I do not want to be the only child of my family.

The reason why I am unwilling to be the only child is quite obvious. I always feel lonely and helpless. I have ever discussed it with my classmates and they have got the same feelings as me. When school is over, we go back home and have no one to talk with, for parents are busy with their jobs or house chores. Even when they have leisure time, due to the generation gap, we find we have nothing in common. On our way to adults, we have met a lot of trouble on which we linger and ponder. If each of us has an elder brother or sister, we can consult him or her. Of course, brothers and sisters are not always under an atmosphere of cooperation. Sometimes they quarrel; sometimes they argue; sometimes they compromise. Being not the only child in the family offers us early experiences of getting along with each other. The feeling of loneliness delays our ability to cope with others, because most of our childhood, we stay alone more than stay with others.

My childhood is closely associated with the Changjiang River. When I was young， my father often took me to the riverside.I was always struck by the beautiful scenery of the river. The water was pure， clean and blue. Some birds flew down， scraped the water and roared up suddenly and some grass floated in the water quietly. Looking into the distance， I saw the river wandering toward the east. However， after the thunderstorm， the water was turbulent with some whirls in the middle of the river.The fresh breeze gave my face a feeling of moisture. Even today I still remember the magnificent scene and the impressive feeling.
Some unpleasant changes have taken place since then. Many hills alongside the river have become bald. More and more mud and dust are being washed down into the river each year. Worse
still， driven by economic profits， some factories keep pouring pollutants into the river.
Luckily people have been awakened to their obligation.They learn a lesson from the big flood in 1998 that we have to nourish our Changjiang River just as it has nourished us and protect it just as it has protected us. Only after a harmonious relationship has been established between men and the river can we prevent the tragedy happening again and restore beauty to our Changjiang River.

My teacher gave me an assignment "experience life" last week. I had been thinking how to finish it because I had never done any thing by myself before.
Mother was out today. It was a good chance to complete the assignment. Seeing the barrel was empty, I decided to fetch water from the well.
I took the empty barrel and went towards the well outside the yard. It snowed yesterday, so the alley was very slippery. A layer of thickice was frozen on the platform of the well. I was frightened by the sight, but I gathered my courage to walk towards it. I stepped on the platform carefully. After standing steadily and squatting down slowly, I hooked the barrel at the end of the rope and put the rope down slowly. I made an effort to drag the barrel up after it was filled with water. I was very careful because it was easy to slip and fall. Then, I carried the barrel of water and returned to my house. My figners were frozen stiff. The alley was so slippery that I walked with difficultly. Suddenly, I slipped and fell down, water in the barrel totally poured down on the ground. I realized my effort was in vain. I hated myself.
I failed to finish the assignment but I did experience life through a trifle which seemed easy but difficult to do well. Such was my first experience of life.
