聽(tīng)了媽媽的這番話，我并沒(méi)有往心里去，而是繼續(xù)認(rèn)真的背誦演講稿，心想，我一定要得獎(jiǎng)。
時(shí)間不知不覺(jué)的來(lái)到了這一天，我心里多少也沒(méi)底，因?yàn)椴⒉恢榔渌麉①愡x手的實(shí)力如何。不過(guò)，我對(duì)自己還是有信心的，希望自己能取得一個(gè)不錯(cuò)的成績(jī)。
那天下午，我早早的來(lái)到了比賽場(chǎng)地。發(fā)現(xiàn)來(lái)了的同學(xué)們都在認(rèn)真的看自己的演講稿，我找到一個(gè)比較靠前的座位，邊看演講稿，邊等待比賽的.開(kāi)始。

On March 22 nd we had a reading competition in a high school. That day, I was very nervous about the competition. I thought and thought…..and I said to myself,Austin, don’t worry it will be fine. After a while, my mom took me to that high school.
When I got into the seat of the car, my stomach started to hurt, but I knew that sort of thing will happen all the time during a stressful event like a reading competition. Later, after a few hours had past, it was my turn to walk up to the stage and say my lines. But wait! I looked over and noticed the judge wasn't looking at me- it was if she didn't respect me! We learned how important eye contact is during our assembly.
After I finished, the guests gave me great praise. I thought I would have a good mark.Then came the time to give out the certificates. When the person read Frobel ElementaryI thought it was me…..but it was my classmate Cindy. She had received second place. Then they read the first prize and I was disappointed it wasn’t me. I was very sad…… but……
I must tell everyone in here, when you go to a competition win or lose you shouldn't care. You should care about whether or not you did your best. You need to ask yourself- Did you learn anything for entering this competition? Do you have the courage to read a story to a huge audience?

With strong determination, Dinah said to her teammates, “We should win honour for our class and put up a good show.” After some time, teams from six other classes were entered. “On your marks,”the starter ② ordered. Then came the pistol shot③. At the sound of it, the first runners shot from their starting points. Many eyes turned to a thin sixteen-year-old girl named Helen who started very fast and became the first one. Soon the second runners already moving, grabbed ④ the sticks and raced on. Nora, the third runner had the stick and took the lead. Already running, Dinah reached for the stick. She was flying three or four steps ahead of the others. Dinah urged herself, “Faster! Faster!” We cheered for her, shouting at the top of our voice. Bit by bit, she pulled quite ahead. It was too late for the others to close the gap and we all sighed with relief. At the finishing line, Dinah was the first one that reached the end.
At that moment, nothing would have been more exciting. We laughed, shouted, and we were very proud of our heroines ⑤. We praised them for their good team work⑥.
When we at last received our certificate of award⑦, everyone in our class was smiling a happy smile. Though it was different from the champion of Olympic Games ⑧, we all thought that it was no less exciting.
