　　英語作為國際通用語，其重要地位越來越得到大家的共識。因為，“我們不能忽視一個巨人的存在”（英國某語言專家語）。所以，我們要下定決心，排除萬難，掌握英語。而構建你英語大廈的基礎，就是詞匯。

　　1．詞匯學習的重要性。英語能力培養(yǎng)程序：詞匯-語法-聽-說-讀-寫。英語高分訓練程序：詞匯-讀-寫。這兩套程序是語言學和認知學研究的成果，次序千萬不能顛倒。詞匯是基礎，是素材，是細胞，不要指望詞匯基本功不扎實的人能夠考出高分；閱讀是中國人學習外語的最佳途徑，也是目前各類外語考試的最主要題型；寫作是掌握外語，檢驗自己水平的最主要方式。有興趣的人可以參考這方面的專著。

　　2。詞匯的學習最困難。如果有人說不，他保證是“唯心主義”。那既然如此，有無捷徑？這兒就有一條捷徑，穿越時空隧道，到達夢幻之境。詞匯的學習要以變應變，在不同的.階段，要有不同的方法。想一想你是如何記住f ace 和pencil的？死記硬背，“無他法，唯手熟爾”（賣油翁）。所以，從原理上來說，詞匯的學習離開死記硬背是不行的，因為，外語的學習要點在于記憶，死記硬背好比打基礎，離開了他，毫無大廈可言。如果你的詞匯量在5 000以下，買一本詞匯書，詞匯量在3000（背功不行）5000（背功還行）7500（背功很好）。選擇標準有三：1。有音標；2 有詞性；3 內(nèi)容簡單，沒有例句。你是如何記住facial, surface, deface; acclaim, declaim, proclaim 的？因為你知道-face- ,-claim-的意義。所以，詞根詞綴法是你學習詞匯第二階段的方法。詞根詞綴法的意義我就不多說了，你是如何記住flagrant 和fragrant的？因為你知道-l-(一根大棒),-r-(一朵鮮花)，所以他們的意義就井然分明了。聯(lián)想記憶法是你學習詞匯第三階段的方法。唯有聯(lián)想，才能強力擴大詞匯范圍。聯(lián)想記憶法有時也叫做邪門記憶法，這方面的書很多。

　　3 . 如何運用詞典擴大詞匯量。關于辭典。詞匯的學習離不開詞典，如何選用她至關重要。我做一個Prediction ，70%的人用的是牛津和朗文。但是你如果看一下英語專業(yè)的考試大綱的話，你會發(fā)現(xiàn)，COLLINS COBUILD 和 WEBSTER’S COLLEGE DICTIONARY 才是最好的工具書。我用的就是后者。為什么要推薦這倆本呢？1、釋義詳細，簡練；2、提高詞匯在上下文的理解能力；3、后者還提供詞源，方便理解與記憶。

　　4. 詞匯量大對閱讀的幫助。閱讀有三個層次：字面意義，行間意義，言外之意。試題考察的比例一般為2：2：1。字面意義不必多說，對于行間意義和言外之意的理解，需要高超的技巧，一般的閱讀書上都有，在此我提一下篇章結構的作用。篇章結構對于解答行間意義和言外之意的提問特別有效。

We often have English classes in the language lab. On the seventh floor there is a library, a reading room. A computer room for the teachers is also on the seventh floor.

　　When we want to look for information we can go to the computer room at noon. When we want to borrow books, the library is open every afternoon. The reading room is open from Monday to Friday the whole day.

Mr W is our head teacher. He told me that I had made some progress in Chinese and Maths, but my English had fallen behind especially my English composition. He suggested that I should do more reading and keep a diary everyday. In the evening, after supper, my mother told me that reading Twenty-Four century would do me much good for improving writing. That was a really good idea and I should follow her advice.
